Every processing line has its own raw material storage area and finished product storage area with dedicated equipment. Our quality department follows the strict quality standards for every product processing. The processing lines get cleaned thoroughly before starting the new lot process and some amount of raw material is flushed out to remove the tinny seeds that get stuck in the processing line. All the incoming material, processing material and final product are documented and labelled with the specific lot numbers. All the documented records are kept by the quality department as well as the factory management.

To satisfy our customers, we have improved the food safety standard which has allowed us to maintain the high-level quality standards in the factory. However, our processing lines are monitored as per the HACCP and KOSHAR standards. Processing lines are monitored every two hours and after every lot, supervisors / operators make sure to clean the lines as per the guidelines. Sesame-CROP-2016-Report

Sesame CROP 2016 Report

Sesame annual acreage of the world is near to 16-17 lakh hectares, India ranks first in both acreage and production in the world. India is also one of the leading and the largest exporters of sesame seeds.

All states in India normally cultivate sesame crop and the main 4 states, viz. Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh collectively account for nearly 70 – 75% of the national kharif acreage. In India, sesame cultivation is practiced mostly by marginal and small farmers. Moreover, most farmers raise the crop with either none or minimal inputs.

Good sesame crop requires near to 400-550mm rainfall and with temperature range of 25-35 C. Dry climate is expected for the proper maturity before harvest and also the post-harvesting for drying. The crop is susceptible to several diseases and insect pests. Excessive rains enhance susceptibility to fungal diseases besides causing erosion in quality.

In kharif-2016, sesame was raised on 15,99,900 hectares in India. Bulk of the sowing was done during the last week of June and continued up to the second week of July and the bulk of the crop was harvested during the last week of September and the first fortnight of October.

Methodology followed while collecting data

Near about 1470 farmers have been interviewed as per the set questionnaire and after the thorough interrogation with them, we have come up with the following conclusion.

On the basis of survey, average yields of the selected districts have been estimated. The average yield of the non-surveyed districts has been considered to be equal to that of weighted average yield of the surveyed districts in the state.

This year In Gujarat, there was normal rain year and the rainfall was 250 to 628 mm, however, it was quite moderate and close to the optimal needs of the crop in most sesame growing districts and hence a good productivity has been realized.

The year 2016 was a near normal rainfall year for the country, yet the precipitation was excessive around sesame growing regions. This year, most districts of MP received incessant and excessive rains (more than 1000 mm and up to 1700 mm) which marred the prospects of the crop. Thus, the crop in both MP and UP suffered the same fate.

This season has been rather a bad year for sesame in Rajasthan as well. On an average, during 1st June to 30th September, the state received 33% higher rains (705 mm) than normal (530 mm).

Cultivation of black sesame varieties are prevalent only in some areas of Gujarat. Farmers in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh preferred only white varieties.

As per the reports, the average national kharif 2016 productivity is estimated at 230 kg/ha and accordingly from an acreage of 15,99,900 hectares, a production of 3,67,977 MT has been estimated.

sesame-seeds-market-trends

Sesame Seeds Market Trends

The Sesame market of India is highly volatile at the moment. There are many reasons for that, however to sum up the main reasons are as below:

  • Import duty levied on import of edible oils & oilseeds
  • Heavy rain fall & floods in the Sesame producing regions of India
  • Less arrival of the crop till date

One of the major reasons for the Sesame price rise is the increased import duty on import of oils & oil seeds. The GOI has increased the import duty so as to boost domestic oil seeds consumption. This has led to drastic rise in the demand for oil seeds in the domestic market. Also, the global demand is on the rise every year & so the Indian markets have noticed a sudden rise in the prices for all the oil seeds.

In case of the sesame seeds, the new crop is still arriving in the market. The estimated crop yield for the year 2017-18 is 455 Million Metric Tonne against the production of 525 Million metric tonne last year. This is much lesser than the expected crop this year & is an outcome of heavy rainfall & floods in the Sesame seeds producing regions of India. Out of the estimated figure of 455 Million MT, much lesser crop has arrived in the market & a lot is still expected, whereas the demand is higher on both the domestic & global front. The suppliers have already committed forward contracts, but there is not enough arrival to fulfill further demands. This has risen the prices for Sesame Seeds drastically.

In addition to this, the Korean tender for 3900 Tonne of Sesame seeds just arrived in the Indian market. Though this did not prompt further increase in the prices, but it may not allow the market to stabilize soon.

The market prices for Sesame seeds are likely to stabilize around December end after the gap in demand and supply is bridged & the estimated crop arrives in the market. Only then the clear picture on the pricing for Indian Sesame can be seen.

Organic-Cultivation-of-Seeds

Organic Cultivation of Seeds

In India Organic farming is not a new concept, it carries rich history since ancient time. The main aim of cultivation of land is to keep the soil with all its nutrients and in good health by using all natural wastes of crops, cow dunk, farms waste and other biological material which leads to the supply of nutrients to crop and without creating pollution.

Actual need of organic cultivations

Organic cultivation is important for future of the world as well as very critical for every human body to grow healthily. It should be encouraged because it acts as a protective shield to all the natural elements of this planet. Organic cultivation is better suited to climatic changes, bio-diversity protection, soil fertility enhances and on top organically cultivated food is nutritious abundant and tastes good as well.

Cultivation method can be best utilized in organic farming with the following techniques –

  • Rotation of crops: to grow various kinds of crops in the same area, according to different seasons in a sequential manner
  • Green Manure: To increase the quality of soil by using the dying plants that are uprooted and stuffed into the soil
  • Biological pest control: In this process living organisms are used to control the usage of pesticides, with limited use of chemicals
  • Compost: Recycled Organic Matter used as a fertilizer in agricultural farms are highly rich in nutrients.
  • Other methods like Crop Diversity, Soil Management, Weed Management, Controlling other organisms, Livestock, etc; are also undertaken to form organic cultivation.

Organic cultivation is enforced in many nations as it minimizes the use of various harmful chemicals which are hazardous to the overall environment. There is more focus on using natural ways to enhance the quality of soil and the cultivation of crops. Organic cultivation is nothing more than a modernization in cultivation. It is a combination of science, technology, and nature.

In India this year Sikkim state is declared as the first state which is fully organic and other states are following the same footprints. The other Indian states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, and Kerala are already walking towards becoming organic and a country where maximum pesticides are being still used that are been banned in more than 67 countries. We hope gradually the complete world will start doing organic farming and which will really make a positive, good, progressive difference.

psyllium-seeds-prevention-care

Psyllium – Today’s Prevention & Cure

Psyllium or Isabgol, as it’s normally called as a husk of a seed. Let’s check out why Psyllium is such an hype now a days…

As we already know, people with higher fibre diets have less risk of breast cancer, colon cancer, heart disease, and it can drastically reduce your cholesterol and improve your digestion. Psyllium with all its properties can do much more.  It is prevention & a cure for many diseases. Where Flax & other fibrous seed husks can fall short, Psyllium can do more wonder. Psyllium is extracted from a plant called Plantago ovate. The Plantago plant family has about 200 other members, including many different varieties of plants. It is predominantly produced and exported from India, where it has been a staple in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. It is also grown in other Asian and European countries, but on a very small scale. This seed husk has grown in popularity over the years due to the changing lifestyle & dietary malfunctions. Psyllium has shown great results as a medicine & adopted by all pharmaceutical companies for their production. Also it has been a great preventer in acidity & weight issues. As mentioned due to many of its properties Psyllium has an advantage over the other seed husk. Let’s know how Psyllium works.

How does Psyllium work inside the body?

Psyllium Husk is known to have high dietary fibres. To put it simply is, there are two categories of dietary fibres, one is soluble fibres & other is insoluble fibres. The insoluble fibres cannot absorb good amount of water & hence are of lesser use to the body, but the soluble fibres can absorb huge amount of water & hold it in the body. Psyllium husks have soluble fibre in huge amount due to which it absorbs & holds water in the body making the GI track well lubricated. As it swells, it turns into a thick gel and traps some nutrients and body fluids, which are then transported out of the body trapped in this gel, and without being digested. A certain amount of glucose is also trapped in the entire course of digestion & is excreted without any effect on the body. Hence, lesser amount of glucose is absorbed in to the blood reducing the diabetes risk. Psyllium also intervenes in secretion of a digestive juice called bile & thus reduces the unwanted cholesterol from the body.

To describe this in few words, Psyllium regulates the highs & lows in our body through our digestive track. It creates & restores the balance of the basic functions f our body making us healthier in many ways. Hence, as said Psyllium is prevention as well as a cure to many physical ailments.

What does Psyllium prevent & cure?

Constipation: When combined with water, psyllium swells & forms a gel like consistency, this stimulates intestines to contract & help speed the passage of stool.

Diabetes: Psyllium absorbs excessive glucose & helps them pass during bowels. This balances out the blood glucose level. This also helps the pancreas secreted insulin to balance out the glucose level in the blood without building pressure on our system.

Diarrhoea: Psyllium can also be used to help relieve mild-to-moderate diarrhoea. It soaks up to a significant amount of water in the digestive tract, making stool firmer and slower to pass.

Heart Disease: High fibre diet reduces the risk of cholesterol in the body and helps to lower levels of triglycerides, thus reducing the cardiovascular risk.

Haemorrhoids: Psyllium is recommended by doctors to help soften stool and reduce the pain associated with haemorrhoids.

Obesity: Psyllium holds the water in the body making the stomach heavier & reducing the cravings.

All this & many more risks are reduced by Psyllium. India dominates the world market in production and export of Psyllium husk powder. It provides approximately 80% of Psyllium husk powder in the world market. India has the upper hand when it comes to cultivating Psyllium, because of certain factors. India’s light soils and warm temperate regions highly promote this crop’s growth. It also thrives well in warm-temperature regions with cool and dry weather. As most regions in India are characterized by this weather. This gives India an upper hand on Psyllium exports.

Psyllium & Psyllium products are used in many industries throughout the world. This so called home remedy in Ayurveda has become the most demanded produce in the industrial world & its application is also vivid. Below is the list, Psyllium is used for many purposes –

  • Psyllium is used to prevent landscaping or soil erosion
  • In pharmaceutical industry, Psyllium is used as thickening agent during capsule formulation
  • Psyllium is used in food and beverages industry, in health drinks, beverages, ice-cream, bread, biscuits, other bakery products, rice, cakes etc., to improve the fibre content of the product
  • Psyllium is used in breakfast cereals
  • Psyllium is being used as a thickener in ice-cream and frozen deserts
  • Psyllium is used for animal feed
  • Psyllium is used as a preventive for sand accumulation in animals mainly in sandy region

So many uses of this product make it the most popular product of the current times & which can be felt by its increasing demand in the global market.
